LITERACY COUNCIL

Mission Statement

 

       The Literacy Plus Council’s goal is to help break the cycle of intergenerational illiteracy in the Hayward community by supporting the Literacy Plus Program for adults and children.  The Program promotes reading and writing competency, provides a computer learning lab, recruits and trains volunteer tutors, supports community outreach and obtains general and financial resources as needed.

       Through the work of Council members, Literacy Plus was granted 501 (c) (3) status as a nonprofit organization. This has allowed it to qualify for certain grants.
